Disney is bringing its content home, with the announcement that Netflix's Marvel shows will arrive on Disney+ in March 2022. Here's what that means for you.

What Are Netflix's Marvel Shows?

Before Disney had its own streaming service, Marvel had a deal with Netflix to produce a range of TV shows.

From 2015 to 2019, Netflix debuted Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher.

The shows received decent acclaim, especially for their darker tone when compared to the more family-friendly Marvel movies.

In 2019, the shows were canceled as Disney prepared to launch Disney+, though they remained watchable on Netflix until recently.

When Are Netflix's Marvel Shows Coming to Disney+?

In February 2022, Netflix pulled the Marvel shows from the platform after Disney chose not to renew the licensing agreement. According to Disney CFO Christine McCarthy, the decision for Disney to regain rights to previously licensed series has cost the company $200 million in lost income.

On March 1, 2022, Disney announced that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher would stream on Disney+ from March 16 in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will also be available, though this was an ABC production rather than Netflix.

Due to the often violent and mature nature of these shows, and because Disney+ has thus far skewed family-friendly, Disney+ in the US will get updated parental controls on the same day. This includes the ability to impose viewing restrictions and lock profiles with a PIN. These features are already available in Europe, owing to the integration of the Star brand in that territory.

Create a Disney+ Profile for Your Kid

It's good to see all of Marvel's content available under one platform, since you won't need to subscribe to multiple streaming services if you want to watch it all.

If you have youngsters in your house, now's a good time to create a Disney+ profile for them if you don't want them watching these Marvel shows.
