I have a small Acer system and would like to be able to use Two screens simultaneuosly. Can it be done without expensive software ?

Yes. Its free & easy. Right click your desktop and then click Display properties, and then the tab called monitor. From there, you can extend your desktop. If you want to clone it, your graphics card software might be able to do this. Some computers even have a function + f-key combo that easily switches connected monitors. Like Vinny said, you'll need another graphics card (I don't know what kind) to connect a second monitor. Hope this helps.

See if there is an output at the back of the system. Look for VGA outlet, HDMI or DVI. You can find pics of them on the Internet to see what they look like. If so, plug a monitor in. The most popular on low-end systems is VGA.Also, check in Control Panel to see if there is a pre-installed display settings program.

If you computer has another video output device, such as HDMI, VGA, DVI, just plug a monitor into that if the monitor supports it.

Also, do you have a laptop or a desktop? If you have a laptop, you can utilize the VGA out, but if you have a desktop you're probably going to need another VGA out.

@ NullBefore we can advice you anything please let us know what operating system you're running and what kind of dual-monitor setup you're looking for. - Do you want to add another monitor to your Acer System? - The second monitor, do you want to extend your desktop from on it or want it to clone the picture from your primary monitor?
