Since its launch on November 10, Xbox Series X owners have been reporting problems with their new consoles. It defies belief, then, that anyone would be blowing vape smoke into their new console. However, that's exactly what's happening. And Microsoft aren't too happy about it.

People Are Blowing Smoke Into Their New Consoles

The day after the Xbox Series X launched, videos began surfacing showing smoke billowing out of the consoles. With the owners claiming their Xbox Series X had caught fire.

Obviously, products catching fire isn't unheard of. Amazon has recalled a number of Ring doorbells after reports of some bursting into flames, so it stands to reason that some people would accept these smoking Xbox consoles as fact.

However, it would seem Twitter fell for a hoax, as it transpires that people were simply blowing vape smoke into their brand new consoles to fake a fault.

Microsoft Warns Against Blowing Vape Smoke Into Your Xbox Series X

It doesn't take a genius to realize that blowing vape smoke into your console is a bad idea. Which is why the official Xbox account on Twitter has asked people not to do it. It was suitably incredulous that people would be doing this at all.

First of all, it isn't smoke. It is a vapor (vape being a contraction of the word "vapor"). This means that when you are blowing vape "smoke" into your console, you are actually blowing liquid droplets all over the internal electronics.

Obviously, this can have disastrous consequences for the circuitry inside your device. Any sort of vapor can cause the delicate components of your new console to rust or degrade in some way.

And this is without mentioning that liquid-vapor and electricity aren't exactly the most comfortable of bedfellows. So blowing vapor into your device could actually cause a fire. Right next to your face, which all of that vape discharge is billowing from.

Stay Safe When Playing Your Xbox Series X/S

The Xbox Series X and S

We have already seen selfish behavior surrounding the launch of the Xbox Series X, with scalpers selling consoles for up to three times the sticker price. These scalpers received Xbox consoles they didn't even want, leaving people who did want the console disappointed on launch day.

If you do have an Xbox Series X console and are enjoying playing on it, don't get caught up in the Twitter firestorm and start to exhale vape into your new device. Or you could actually start an electrical fire for real.
