Microsoft has made great strides in bringing the Xbox Cloud Gaming service to as many devices as possible, and now the company is going one step further. The tech giant has confirmed that it is working on a USB dongle that will let you stream games to any screen that it can plug into, thus removing the need for a console or a computer at all.

Microsoft Cloud Gaming's Confirmed USB Dongle

As reported on Windows Central, there have been hints and leaks about a new USB dongle that will allow gamers to play on the Xbox Cloud Gaming service practically anywhere. And now, the company has come forward to say that, yes, it does intend to go ahead with this plan.

In a statement to the website, a Microsoft spokesperson said the following:

“Our vision for Xbox Cloud Gaming is unwavering, our goal is to enable people to play the games they want, on the devices they want, anywhere they want. As announced last year, we’ve been working on a game-streaming device, codename Keystone, that could be connected to any TV or monitor without the need for a console."

Keystone doesn't have a release date right now, and we don't even know what operating system the dongle will use. However, given that Microsoft has been working on the dongle for years now, it can't be too long until Microsoft is ready to reveal its new product to everyone.

Microsoft Continues to Dominate in the Cloud Gaming Scene

It's no secret that Microsoft has a huge interest in cloud gaming. Combined with its Xbox Game Pass library that's stuffed to the brim with games, subscribers get a lot of content for very little. And now that an official dongle is in the works, Microsoft is just extending its lead as the best cloud gaming provider in the console wars.

Xbox Games, Anywhere

Once the official Xbox Cloud Gaming releases, Game Pass subscribers will have the joys of playing games anywhere with a screen and an internet connection, no console needed. The question is, what will Sony and Nintendo do in response, if anything at all?
