A renowned Microsoft leaker has hinted at a "new Windows" coming soon, which has people speculating on what the leaker meant. However, said leaker has given us another hint that perhaps means it's something we've never heard of before.

What Is "the New Windows"?

This hot piece of news comes to us because of the efforts of the Twitter user @_h0x0d, AKA "WalkingCat." This user has provided many reliable leaks in the past, so there's little reason to doubt this particular one.

WalkingCat began by announcing that "the new Windows" was going to land sometime in March 2021. However, their original data must have been a little shaky as they rolled this back to "it's coming."

People began speculating as to what "the New Windows" might be. It could be the announcement of Windows 10X, the reveal of the Windows 10 revamp called Sun Valley, or a hint to the oncoming 21H1 update---all of which are due to see the light of day soon.

WalkingCat responded to these speculations by telling us not to focus on the date but instead what "the new Windows" might mean.

As such, while this may hint at when Microsoft will give a public announcement for Windows 10X or the Sun Valley revamp, it may yet be something entirely different. We'll have to wait and see.

What Is Windows 10X, Sun Valley, and 21H1?

If your eyes crossed for a moment when we mentioned all the potential candidates for "the new Windows," let's break down each one and why people are looking forward to them.

  • "Windows 10X" is a branch of Windows 10 designed to work on any device. You can put it on a laptop, phone, or tablet, and it'll adapt accordingly. Despite its WIP status, a Twitter user still got it working on a phone.
  • "Sun Valley" is the codename for a planned revamp of Windows 10. We still know very little about this revamp, but Microsoft is planning to bring the now-aging operating system up to speed with its competitors.
  • "21H1" is a reference to Windows 10 version 21H1. The company has begun rolling out 21H1 to Insider Preview users, so it should release soon as long as nothing catastrophic happens.

A New Windows Is Coming... but What Is It?

A reliable Microsoft leaker has announced a "new Windows" on the horizon, but we're still unsure as to what it might be. We'll have to wait and keep our ears to the ground for further news on this development.

While you wait, why not study up on what Windows 10X is? You can even give it a try for yourself if you like!
