Despite Windows 10 showing its age, Microsoft hasn't released a huge revamp to the operating system since its release—at least, not yet. For those who want a fresh coat of paint for Windows 10, fear not; Microsoft is planning a "sweeping visual rejuvenation" for its operating system.

Microsoft's Plans for Windows 10's Visuals

While Microsoft has never officially made a statement on its plans for a Windows 10 revamp, we've seen little hints that the software giant is planning something big. This time, The Verge spotted a job advertisement that further confirms Microsoft's plans to give its operating system a makeover.

The job advert asked for a senior software engineer that could perform the following:

On this team, you’ll work with our key platform, Surface, and OEM partners to orchestrate and deliver a sweeping visual rejuvenation of Windows experiences to signal to our customers that Windows is BACK and ensure that Windows is considered the best user OS experience for customers.

Given the interesting choice of words, the job advert caused ripples amongst Windows 10 enthusiasts. As a result, the company has since removed the aforementioned passage from its Careers page.

Why Is Microsoft Planning a Windows 10 Redo?

Astute readers will know that this isn't the first time we've heard hints of a complete rework of Windows 10. We first heard about this plan back during a rumor involving "Sun Valley", the codename for Windows 10's rehaul.

Back then, all we had was hearsay and speculation to work with, so we couldn't say for sure if Microsoft had plans in place. However, with Microsoft now openly advertising for the spot, it's clear that the company really does want to go ahead with bringing Windows 10 up to speed with its rivals.

This would be a welcome change for fans of the operating system, as Windows 10 hasn't been at the forefront of Microsoft's mind for a long time. After the COVID-19 pandemic, Microsoft has been doubling-down on its remote working tools, which have been making the business a killer profit.

Now, however, it seems that Microsoft really wants to give its aging operating system a fresh lick of paint. We don't know what's included in the redesign, but hopefully, further details will make their way to the public soon.

A Fresh New Windows 10, Coming Soon

While we haven't seen any hard evidence on what Microsoft has planned for Windows 10's make-over, we do know that one is in the works. With the recent job offering leaking some interesting tidbits, we now know for sure that something is brewing.

If you don't want to wait to spruce up your Windows 10 desktop, why not do it yourself? There are plenty of Windows 10 dark themes that both look great and save your eyeballs from excessive strain.
