After COVID-19 forced employees to work from their homes, Microsoft worked hard to make Teams the best remote work platform out there. Now, meeting holders can create polls for attendees to take.

How the New Microsoft Teams Polls Work

Microsoft announced the release of this new feature over on the Microsoft Tech Community. This new feature uses the power of Microsoft Forms to bring polling to Teams.

Before the meeting begins, an organizer can create and edit a poll related to the content. Then, in the middle of the presentation, the organizer can send the poll to everyone attending the meeting via an option within Teams.

Once a poll is selected, everyone within the meeting will see the poll pop up on their side. If the organizer has set the poll to be anonymous, nobody knows who votes what. Otherwise, votes are shown in the chat window.

A Bigger Future for Microsoft Forms?

Back when Microsoft made Forms free for anyone to use, we speculated that this move was to compete against rival services like Google Docs. As it turns out, the truth seems to involve a lot more than that.

By removing the restriction on Forms, Microsoft has made it the perfect tool to implement within Teams. Instead of working on a new polling feature from the ground up, Microsoft has attached Teams to Forms to keep its ecosystem connected.

By making Forms free for public use, Microsoft ensures that remote workers need not leave that ecosystem to get what they want. No more dropping Google Forms links into Teams chats to collect people's data; now, you can design and distribute surveys without leaving Teams.

Due to this convenience, it's highly likely that Microsoft Teams users will adopt and use this new feature. This is good news for Microsoft, which finally has the means to take on its competitors and deliver a superior service.

Microsoft Is Staying On Form With Microsoft Teams

You can now build surveys within Microsoft Teams using Forms, which was recently released for everyone to use. It's a strong move from Microsoft to keep people within its ecosystem without needing to visit competitors. The question remains, however; what else will Microsoft do to keep people using its products?

If you're a big Microsoft Teams user and you want to make the most of Forms, it's an easy service to use. There are many ways to create, modify, and share a survey using Microsoft Forms, and now you need not have to pay to use it!
