After months of speculation, Microsoft today made the announcement we've all been waiting for.

That's right: the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 doesn't exist (yet!). Instead, the benchmarking leaks and recent FCC certification belong to the Microsoft Surface Pro 7+, an updated version with a focus on businesses.

Microsoft Announces Surface Pro 7+, Targets Commercial Users

The Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ is an update to the current Surface Pro iteration. Where its predecessor was available to all-comers, Microsoft is pushing the updated Surface Pro 7+ toward businesses, focusing on those commercial and enterprise users.

The new Surface Pro 7+ will feature Intel's 11th generation Tiger Lake processors, coming equipped with the Intel Core i3-1115G4, Core i5-1135G7, and Core i7-1165G7 chips.

The Intel Core i7-1165G7 isn't the same i7-1185G7 model spotted in an earlier Geekbench 5 benchmark leak but still features an impressive base clock rate of 2.8GHz and a Max Turbo Frequency of 4.8GHz.

Intel's 11th gen Core i5 and Core i7 processors include Intel Xe Graphics, a significant boost on the previous model. However, the Core i3 version will ship with Intel UHD Graphics.

The flagship Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ will ship with 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD, while even the entry-level Core i3 model will ship with 8GB RAM. Furthermore, the storage will now be easy to remove and upgrade via a small rear panel.

Elsewhere, the Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ will ship with a substantial battery, offering 15-hours use on a single charge. Fast charging will allow you to grab around 80 percent of the battery capacity on a 10-minute charge, very handy for when you're rushing out.

You'll also find dual-cameras, with a 5MP front-facing camera and an 8MP rear-facing option, both of which support 1080p. The updated model will also feature stereo speakers with support for Dolby Atmos.

Another handy change for business and enterprise users is the inclusion of 4G LTE. Microsoft dropped LTE from the original Microsoft Surface Pro 7, much to its users' disappointment, so many will welcome its return. The Surface Pro 7+ also includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, revealed in an FFC certification earlier in January 2021.

How Much Will the Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ Cost?

The Surface Pro 7+ cost will vary depending on the configuration. The entry-level model, featuring an Intel Core i3 processor, 8GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD, will set you back $900. Prices will scale up from there.

Microsoft expects to begin shipping the Surface Pro 7+ from next week. While the Surface Pro 7+ is primarily marketed towards commercial users, there are early indications that regular consumers will be able to get their hands on the new hardware. However, there is no specific timeframe on this.
