If you've been waiting for a 64-bit version of Microsoft's OneDrive app, you're in luck. The software giant has confirmed that a 64-bit OneDrive is making its way onto Windows 10.

Microsoft's Drive for a 64-Bit OneDrive

Microsoft broke the good news on the Microsoft Tech Community website. The feature is currently in public preview, and you can download it for yourself via the link in Microsoft's announcement.

A 64-bit version of OneDrive is "a long awaited and highly requested feature," according to Microsoft, and now power-users can use the app at its best.

So, what's the big deal with the 64-bit version of OneDrive? As Microsoft explains, it's the perfect choice for getting a lot of data transferred faster:

The 64-bit version is the right choice if you plan to use large files, if you have a lot of files, and if you have a computer that's running a 64-bit version of Windows. Computers running 64-bit versions of Windows generally have more resources—such as processing power and memory—than their 32-bit predecessors. Also, 64-bit applications can access more memory than 32-bit applications (up to 18.4 million Petabytes).

While Microsoft didn't mention when they're bringing the 64-bit version of OneDrive to the main branch of Windows 10, be sure to download the preview from the link above if you can't wait.
