The Xbox dashboard has gone through numerous changes over the years. However, the Xbox Series X|S dashboard has always been a little behind, with its cluttered, ad-filled user interface and background-blocking tiles.

But, now, with a revamped Xbox Series X|S dashboard released to Xbox Insiders, these issues seem to be getting addressed. Finally!

What Is the New Xbox Insider Dashboard for Xbox Series X|S?

Implementing long-standing feedback from Xbox Insider users, Xbox has announced that any Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha Ring users of the Xbox Insider program now have early access to a new dashboard for Xbox Series X|S.

While there are issues with the Xbox Series X|S dashboard, the new dashboard looks to correct problems highlighted by previous dashboard iterations. This includes limited background visibility and a crowded Home screen.

As outlined in a post on Xbox Wire, the new Xbox Series dashboard should meet user expectations and improve the Xbox Series X|S user experience. But what exactly is changing with the new dashboard?

How the Xbox Series X|S Dashboard Is Changing

The new Xbox Series X|S dashboard for Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha ring members of Xbox Insider focuses on providing a cleaner look and honing navigation.

Your Xbox Series X|S dashboard will be changing with the following key alterations:

  • Improving navigation and implementing a new quick-access menu at the top of your Xbox Home screen.
  • Simplifying the overall layout of the dashboard to free up space by reducing the size of some tiles and lowering them to the bottom of your screen.
  • Adding a responsive game art feature that ensures your background art can be seen even when you are highlighting or selecting a tile on the dashboard.

The new dashboard will also add notifications to the My Games & Apps tile to let you know when something new is released or when something requires your attention.

When Will You See the New Xbox Dashboard?

The changes to the Xbox Series X|S dashboard remove clutter and prioritize navigation. However, at the time of writing you can only access the dashboard through the Xbox Insider program, with no word from Microsoft as to an official public release.

While you can join the Xbox Insider program at any time, the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha rings required for the new dashboard are an invite-only tier of Xbox Insider, though Xbox Wire has previously stated that anyone can request an invitation to join.

The new and improved Xbox Series X|S dashboard is likely to become available to more people as time goes by. And we expect to see further changes made before it sees a full release.
