With so many coupons, deals, and cashback opportunities on the internet, it can be a monumental chore to keep on top of it all. Fortunately, our browsers and extensions are getting better at handling it for us, and Microsoft Edge is no different.

Microsoft Edge's New Cashback Tool

Microsoft made the big announcement on the Windows Experience Blog. Now, when you're shopping with Edge, you can sign in with your Microsoft account, activate Bing Rebates, and score cashback on supported purchases.

That's not all, however. In a bid to make Edge the best shopping browser on the web, Microsoft is also adding price history for products so you can quickly see if you're getting the best deal out there.

When you're looking at a supported product, Microsoft will show you a graph of the item's price and how it has changed over the days. If it's going for cheap, it'll let you know with a prompt in the URL bar that says "price has dropped."

Is Microsoft Using Shopping As Its Angle of Attack?

With this update, Microsoft Edge becomes an even more useful tool for saving money online. This goes in line with previous updates to the browser that enhanced how people buy things from the internet.

It began around the Christmas period of 2020, when Microsoft announced a native coupon finder in Edge. Since then, Microsoft Edge users have enjoyed more and more updates that focus on saving you money when you shop online.

As such, this may be Microsoft's main angle of attack when it comes to gaining browser market share. Other browsers don't have these features out of the box—you need to download third-party extensions to get the same functionality as Edge has.

This gives users a reason to jump over to Edge, even if it isn't the most powerful browser out there. Chrome is the top dog right now, and its years of experience has made it a browser powerhouse. In fact, its impressive performance statistics are exactly why Microsoft abandoned its own version of Edge and adopted a Chromium codebase instead.

Even so, Microsoft hasn't given up trying to beat Google's browser in a performance fight. After all, the majority of PCs run Windows 10, so Microsoft can work on making Edge run seamlessly on its own operating system. In fact, Microsoft now believes Edge is the best Windows 10 browser out there.

Shopping Online Has Never Been Easier

It can be confusing to sort through all the deals, coupons, and sales online, but Microsoft wants to simplify the process with Edge. Now you can get cashback and monitor price history to get the best bang for your buck.

You don't need to use a browser's tools or an extension to get deals, though. There are plenty of websites out there dedicated to helping you save money while shopping online.
