The new Microsoft Edge has come leaps and bounds since it moved to a Chromium build, but not everyone is convinced enough to use it just yet. The software giant aims to fix that by giving people points in Microsoft Rewards for using its new browser.

Earning Big Points With Microsoft Edge

The recent changes to Microsoft Rewards were spotted by onMSFT. Some eagle-eyed Rewards users have noted that Microsoft is now giving a lot more points to people who used Edge to search on Bing.

You can exchange these points for goodies, which is a massive boon for Microsoft fans. For instance, you can use Microsoft Rewards to get free Xbox Live Gold.

Previously, users only got a little boost when they used Edge to search on Bing. You'd get 150 points if you searched on a PC and 100 on a mobile device. Whichever method you chose, you got a bonus of 20 points if you used Microsoft Edge while searching on Bing.

Now, Microsoft is experimenting with a new point system that can give up to 250 points just for using Edge. Microsoft balances out the boosted Edge points by giving fewer for using a PC or mobile device, but it's still a lot for just using the Edge browser.

Some people don't see these enhanced Edge points, so there's a good chance that Microsoft is just seeing how things play out for the time being. However, it shows that the company is considering the possibility of rewarding users more for using Edge.

Taking Your Microsoft Rewards Points to the Edge

If you're a big fan of Microsoft Rewards, you'll want to try using Edge to search Bing in the future. The company seems to be planning to give more rewards to Edge users as thanks for using its browser.

If you need more excuses to boot up Microsoft Edge, did you know that it can be more productive than Google Chrome in some areas? For instance, it's lighter on laptop batteries and hogs less memory.
