Microsoft is making good headway versus Google with its new Chromium Edge browser, but Bing still has a long way to go to make the same mark. Microsoft isn't going down without a fight, however, and has recently revamped how its search engine handles recipe searches.

How Microsoft Is Making Cooking Easy

The update seems to be a silent one, as Microsoft did not make an announcement about it at the time of writing. However, the update is definitely live, as you can see it for yourself when you use Bing.

To activate this new feature, just search for a certain kind of cuisine, followed by "recipes." For example, searching Bing for "Chinese recipes" will show you a list of recipes you can expand.

Bing's new recipe search

Each recipe summary shows you how well-rated each one is, how long it takes to cook, the calorie count, and how many servings the recipe makes. This means you can pick out the perfect recipe for time, diet, intended serving size, and whether the recipe makes tasty food or not.

If you worry about your waistline just by looking at all the pictures, you can select filters at the top of the search. "Low cal," "low carb," and "low fat" will help keeps the pounds off, while the "quick" filter is good when time is of the essence. You can also tell Bing to only show the top-rated recipes for when guests are coming over.

Given that this feature rolled out just before the Christmas 2020 period, it's clear that Microsoft is gambling on the festive rush to push its products. For instance, the company recently released a price-checking tool for its Edge browser to help people save some pocket change when buying gifts.

As such, we'll have to see if Microsoft's gamble on the Christmas period will help convert people over to its services. Given how much success the new Edge browser is enjoying, it may not be so far-fetched as you may think!

Enhancing Your Cooking With Microsoft Bing

If you're never sure what to cook next, Microsoft Bing may be your next best friend. With its new update, you can now use the search engine to find the best recipe for the job. We'll have to see if Microsoft can continue adding great features to Bing and win people over from Google's own search engine.

Microsoft is trying its best to make its mark in the world of search engines. The company recently rebranded its search engine to bring it more in line with Microsoft's branding.
