Messenger is rolling out a new feature that will make your messages, GIFs, stickers, and reactions disappear after your recipient sees them. This will bring an entirely new dynamic to your chats on Messenger.

Make Your Messages Disappear

Facebook showed off vanish mode in a post on the Messenger Newsroom. The feature, which will soon be available for Instagram as well, lets you send short-lived messages.

Your message will automatically disappear after it's seen. And if you're worried about someone screenshotting your vanishing message, Facebook will notify you if someone snags it.

Keep in mind that vanish mode is currently available for all Messenger users in the US and in "a handful of other countries." WhatsApp already debuted a disappearing message feature, so it's about time that it came to Messenger.

How to Use Vanish Mode

To turn on vanish mode, head to Messenger, select a chat, and then swipe up on your screen. If it's your first time using vanish mode, you'll see a page that provides more information on the feature.

After that, you can start sending disappearing messages to your friend. And when you're done with vanish mode, simply swipe up again to go back to normal.

Using That Messenger Magic

Messenger's new vanish mode will magically make your messages disappear, which is definitely a good thing for embarrassing messages. Even if you don't decide to use vanish mode, it still might be fun to experiment with.
