I want to set up systems using a large wall screen so that I can view maps on them instead of using an old-fashioned wall map. Then I could insert a customer's town or other information and have a look at the area. What's the best solution for this?

I know it's an obvious answer, but have you tried Google Maps at  http://maps.google.com/ ? It really is the best map solution, in my experience. You can use the My Places feature to save locations and draw up your own maps. You can also try Google Earth at http://www.google.com/earth/index.html for fancier 3D graphics.
