When are you going to do a guide on QR codes?

Hi, what are QR codes? Is that like proof of purchase or barcode label?

They are basically 2D barcodes (a product barcode is 1D). They can hold a small amount of text information such as a web URL or contact addresses, but a smart phone with camera is needed to read that information. They've grown to be quite complex and can hold a significant amoutn of data, as well as being able to make nice designs around them. Check out some great examples here:http://blazingminds.co.uk/awesome-designer-qr-codes/But dont be too disillusioned. You need a QR code reader app, a decent camera phone that can focus on close range, and you have to hold you hand very still for the lenght of time it takes to read the information in. They've just not that good, and a bit of fad.

Becuase basically, QR codes are dead. They're the most pointless thing ever invented and designed for the last generation of phones that didn't have actual QWERTY keyboards. Nowadays, it takes 10 times longer to open up the QR code app, line it up right, scan it correctly, convert that to a URL and launch the external browser etc, than to just type the damn thing into the browser. Let them die already. The only thing they are good for are dirty pranks - like printing up your own political poster with a QR code that redirects to lemonp****.org or similar. Not that I would ever do that.

While I dot use theme I can think of many instances where they are extremely helpful. Many products now have a QR Code on the box that takes user to a detailed product overview page upon scan.Aibek
