Recently, as traffic on my blog increases, I was advised by tech support that my web server might benefit from adding caching to my WordPress blog. I know caching can reduce the server load, but are there any negatives to enabling caching?

At this moment I'm not aware of any real negative points in using a WordPress caching plugin (at least not for W3 Total Cache). One point might be that the static HTML pages [which are generated] might not be up to date all the time but I guess this depends a lot on the settings and usually takes only a few minutes until it solves itself.
