There's a gnawing feeling that Apple's 2022 MacBook Pro lineup was incomplete. And that feeling may not be completely unfounded, seeing as we got only the 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro as Apple's high-end battery-powered computer of 2022.

So, the question stands; what exactly does 2023 have in store for the MacBook Pro? Will we get 14-inch and 16-inch M2 MacBook Pros? And when? If you're anxiously waiting, we've done you a small favor and explored these questions

What Do We Know About the 2023 MacBook Pro?

While Apple hasn't come out to say anything, many renowned tech journalists anticipate that the 14-inch and 16-inch 2023 MacBook Pro models will be released alongside the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips.

Building on the Apple silicon advancement in the regular M2, these chips will offer more power and efficiency than its predecessor (much like how the M1 Pro and Max improved the base M1).

The rumor mills have focused on the M2 Max, saying it will come with 64GB unified memory, a 38-core GPU, and a 12-core CPU. These specs are a benchmark above the M1 Max's 36-core GPU and 10-core CPU.

We don't expect much or anything at all to change in the design compared to the 2021 models. The notch will remain, housing a 1080p HD camera, and despite the hopeful rumors, it is unlikely there will be a Face ID on these MacBooks.

As for ports, you can expect the same SD card slot, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a MagSafe 3 connector for fast charging.

2023 MacBook Pro Expected Pricing and Release Date

Industry experts originally predicted Apple to release the 14-inch and 16-inch M2 MacBook Pros in 2022. But as the rumored October 2022 Apple event didn't hold, it's clear that any of Apple's plans for the MacBook Pro have most likely been delayed to the early quarter of 2023.

However, the "when?" is only as important as the "how much?". For this, we can look at Apple's pricing strategy for previous models and guess that the pricing will start at $1,999 for the entry-level 14-inch and $2,499 for the 16-inch version. Still, the prices may rise widely depending on demand, exchange rates, point of purchase, and economy. Essentially, leave room for error in your budget.

Anticipate 2023 MacBook Pros Soon

Regardless of anything, it's already clear that 2023 will be a more exciting year for MacBooks than 2022 was. A new generation of high-end MacBooks will grace our work and entertainment desks, giving Windows users another reason to migrate to Apple's ecosystem.

Considering the release of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models is just around the corner, you may want to set some money aside early so that you can cop a high-end model instead of settling for the mid-range 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro.
