Apple’s M2 MacBook Air is one of the best laptops a regular consumer can buy. With an all-new design, the M2 MacBook Air comes in four color options: Midnight, Space Gray, Silver, and Starlight.

While the color choice of a technology product might seem subjective, some colors are better than others in certain areas. Let’s take a look at each color to determine which one is right for you.

1. Midnight

Midnight is the brand-new color for the M2 Air. It’s the darkest color we have seen on a Mac in a while. It looks very stealthy, and when it’s clean, it looks incredible. However, there is a drawback to the color—because it attracts fingerprints and smudges more than the other three colors.

Even so, the color compliments the new design—which is one of the reasons to buy the M2 MacBook Air. If you want to change things up from Space Gray or Silver and don’t mind cleaning your laptop more often, the Midnight color is an excellent choice for you.

2. Starlight

Next, we have Starlight, which debuted with the 6th generation iPad Mini, Apple Watch Series 7, and the iPhone 13 series in 2021. However, the shade of the color varies per product. On the M2 MacBook Air, Starlight is the gold color option, whereas Starlight is a brighter white color on the newer iPhone 14 series, which makes it one of the best colors on the iPhone 14.

Apple has used multiple different styles of gold for many of its products over the years. This time, Starlight is more of a pale gold; in some lighting conditions, it can look like Silver too. Starlight is a classy look that certainly can be the right fit for you if you're a fan of gold.

3. Space Gray

Of course, there is the classic Space Gray—which was introduced to the Mac with the first generation 12-inch MacBook. It looks like a darker shade of Silver, so it’s not as dark as the Midnight color. However, it still looks modern and stealthy, even though it is now prevalent.

If you want a stealthy look without showing as many smudges or fingerprints as the Midnight color option, you can’t go wrong with Space Gray. It's the safe bet without being too flashy.

4. Silver

Silver is the timeless classic that was the only color on the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro for a long time. This color isn’t going anywhere from the Mac lineup anytime soon. Many people purchase a Silver Mac because they believe it looks the cleanest and resembles the classic MacBooks. Silver can also be more durable since there is no coating used for the color, which can chip off on some products.

If you want a sleek-looking computer that does a better job of hiding fingerprints and provides maximum durability, Silver is the way to go.

Choose Your MacBook Air’s Color Wisely

Picking the color for your MacBook is more important than most people think. Since you're probably going to hold on to the computer for at least a few years, you want to be happy with your chosen color. Now that you have selected your color choice, you will need to determine which specifications you will need for your computer. If you want the best all-around experience, it's best to avoid the base model M2 Air.
