Driving a car can be stressful at times because of bad drivers on the road, poor weather conditions, and of course, traffic. On top of all that, if you're not familiar with most of the signs you see on the road, then you might be in for some trouble.

Being familiar with road signs is important if you want to be a good driver. Not only is it required to pass your driver's license test, but it also keeps you and other drivers safe on the road. In this post, we'll cover six Android apps that can help you learn almost every road sign out there.

1. Traffic & Road Signs

Traffic & Road Signs is an app that can help you pass your driving test. It has a catalog of nearly every road sign in the US, and it includes a few quizzes to test your knowledge.

The Signs section of the app provides information on countless signs found on the roads in the US. By tapping on any sign, you can see a brief description of what it means. Once you feel like you’re familiar with most of them, you can try out the tests or play one of the two games.

Both practice tests have a time limit of two minutes each. The first one will show you a sign and ask what it means, while the second one will give you a description and ask you to choose the right sign. These tests might be a bit tricky at first, but you'll soon realize that most road signs are oddly similar.

There is also the Memory Game and the Guess The Sign activity. The first one asks you to find matching pairs of road signs, while the other asks you to guess an incomplete sign. Both of these are simple, but help you learn about signs by gamification.

2. Practice Test USA & Road Signs

If you want to take your time and learn about road signs at a slower pace, this is a good alternative to the app above. This app includes a comprehensive guide to road rules, a ton of information on traffic signals, and 21 practice tests with 20 questions each to test your learnings.

The app also features a dedicated section that educates you about common US road signs, including regulatory, warning, and guide signs. When you tap any sign on the screen, the app displays a brief description with an appropriate example for certain signs.

Another standout feature is the My Test Score section, which provides detailed insight into your progress. This section displays the number of tests you've attempted and the corresponding correct/incorrect answers. Since it includes a total of 21 practice tests, taking a few every day and checking the My Test Score section to see your improvements is recommended.

3. US Traffic and Road Signs

The US Traffic and Road Signs app is unique because it categorizes road signs based on type, shape, and color. It allows you to look at road signs from a different perspective, so you can spot certain elements and figure out what the sign is trying to tell you.

The app has a section that contains descriptions, examples, and images of different road signs. You can sort through the different categories and learn about the signs in any order you like. This way, not only do you learn about the signs, but also why they are designed in a particular way.

In the top right corner, you will find the Test option, which consists of 30 questions. The absence of a timer enables you to read and answer the questions carefully, making the learning process a bit more approachable. You can also track your progress in the same section.

After answering all 30 questions, you can return to the main menu and select Test again to answer a new set of questions. Unfortunately, it does not provide detailed statistics for all of your attempts.

4. Road Signs – US Traffic Rules

If you always want to have a catalog of road signs quickly available to you, this is the app to get. Like other apps on this list, this one also includes a quiz section and a catalog for road signs. However, the descriptive catalog and search feature are things that make this app stand out.

In the Catalog section, you will find a list of road signs that are categorized. You can choose any category of signs that you wish to learn. Every road sign in the list features a short description, and you can scroll through the different categories such as traffic, emergency, recreation, and regulatory signs.

It also features a Quiz section. Each quiz has a set of 20 random questions with no timer. After finishing the quiz, you can review the mistakes and attempt all the questions that you got wrong. Whenever you attempt a new quiz, the questions will be different and randomized.

Finally, the search function allows you to quickly search for any road sign. Type a small description, and the app will instantly find signs that relate to that description.

5. Traffic Signs: Road Signs Game

Most of the apps in our list feature a quiz or practice test of some sort. However, this one also features a game that helps you learn as you play along. The game is separate from the quiz section and features a progress bar to monitor your performance.

So, you have three lives, and you need to guess the appropriate symbol for each question. You earn stars as you go, and you can use these, later on, to replenish your lives. The game itself is easy at first but gets challenging once you start losing lives.

The quiz section is similar, as you have a limited number of lives and lose one for every incorrect guess. However, you can watch an ad to continue your attempt when you run out of lives. Apart from that it also features a catalog of signs so that you can prepare before you play the game or attempt the quiz.

6. USA Traffic/Road Signs

This app is particularly interesting because it has a lot of options for you to go through. For example, you can learn all about road signs by browsing the catalog, using flashcards, or playing the Guess The Sign game. All of these different approaches mean you’ll easily find something that works for you.

Other than that, it categorizes the learning section into problem sets. These follow a theme, and some of the questions talk about how to stay safe in your car as well. Finally, the quiz section also follows the same pattern as the problem sets. For example, if you properly memorize the first learning set, you’ll be ready to take on the first quiz with ease.
