If you are afraid of losing documents, pictures and other files, a repair install will not get rid of them. If you do a full reinstall, then your data will be lost.

If this is the first time you are getting this problem, let the "Windows start-up repair" resolve the problem. It's a good tool, you just have to select it and let it do the magic. If you are not seeing the Error recovery screen, reboot the system and when it's powering up keep hitting F8 until you see the "Advanced boot options" and select "Repair Your Computer" from there. If the problem is resolved, nice! But make sure you make a backup of your important data, as the error you got might be an indication of a HDD failure and it might repeat some time later. (an advice from a personal experience ;) )

It is a startup error so you use your installation cd to fix the problem

don't be afraid of the auto-repair, etc.U would have repair disk, or an inbuilt repair option. check that out.also which safe mode you tried?did you try to do a system restore yet?

try to do startup repair if that doesn't work try the repair windows from windows setup or just reinstall windows... (then make a restore image so you can just restore everything to be as new if anything happens)

use the windows disc and run a startup repair

There may be different problems...Try to repair it, with your windows installation disk! If it doesn't work, then format it. (if you don't care if you lost your files... But you can re-install your windows, without formatting your hard disk)If even after formatting, it doesn't work, then go to a repair shop...

If possible, use your Windows repair disc to try to fix the startup problem or do a rollback to before you started having this issue. Use another computer with the same OS version of Windows and similar specs to create the system repair disc.http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/create-a-system-repair-disc

What was the bugcheck? There should have been a hexadecimal code in the upper portion of the screen along with a file name where the error was occurring. You don't say what version of Windows you are running either, but you can try to boot from your Windows installation disc and do a repair installation to try to fix whatever has gone wrong.
