Sleep is essential to everyone’s health. However, it can be a source of worry in many households, as tired parents try to get their children to bed and then desperately hope they stay asleep!

Fortunately, there are many excellent gadgets and apps that can help you avoid those interrupted nights and ensure that your kids sleep peacefully.

1. My Little Morphee Sound Machine

One of the best gadgets you can safely leave in your child’s bedroom is the My Little Morphee sound machine, a standalone sleep and calming device that contains almost two hundred sound sessions, including stories, calming music, and nature sounds.

Children as young as three can operate this simple, screen-free device independently. It’s aimed at children up to 10 years old, who can then progress to the original Morphee sound machine.

2. Hatch Rest Mini

Another device for your child’s bedroom is the Rest Mini from smart sleep experts Hatch. It’s a simple sound machine with eight sounds available, including ocean, chirping birds, and rain.

You can control every feature of the Hatch Rest Mini from a smartphone app, allowing you to set timers to turn the sound off when your child is asleep or switch it on again if you hear them stirring during the night. There’s lots of excellent sleep tech for kids.

3. Use Amazon Echo as a Night Light

Night lights can be a comfort to children who have trouble sleeping, and if you have an Amazon Echo device, it’s easy to enable an Alexa skill called Night Light, which will turn the light ring on the top of your Echo or Echo Dot into a night light. This free skill can be set on a timer or switched off via voice command.

There’s a bonus to using this comforting light. Having an Echo device in your child’s bedroom means you can ask Alexa to play sleep sounds or soothing music at bedtime or at night.

You can also ask Google Assistant to read a bedtime story if you prefer to use Google devices.

4. Moshi Kids

There are many meditation apps to help you get to sleep, but award-winning Moshi is about more than just meditation.

Moshi is designed to help kids of all ages throughout the night with over 85 hours of sleep sounds, meditations, and music. There are also many stories featuring characters your kids will love, with notable narrators such as Goldie Hawn.

Each section features aids for both bedtime and for waking up during the night, so hopefully, if your child’s sleep is disturbed, you can help them drop off again quickly. The settings allow you to loop and replay items, so you can leave sleep sounds playing throughout the night if needed.

Within the app, you’ll find Koko Sleep, a podcast section full of children’s stories that gets updated every few days, so there’s always fresh content for you to explore together.

Adult users will like the smart sleep tracking features, but Sleepiest contains a rich seam of sleep aid content for your kids.

6. BetterSleep

Although BetterSleep is subtitled Sleep Tracker in the App stores, that’s only part of the story. BetterSleep (formerly called Relax Melodies) does include excellent sleep-tracking functions.

But the most appealing element to your kids is the vast catalog of sleep sounds you can combine to create unique sound mixes. With every natural calming noise included, along with some unusual ones (like bumblebees or horses trotting), each member of your family can design their very own sleep soundtrack.

There are more than one hundred sleep stories, and parents can use timers to control it all.

So, you can send your child to sleep listening to a story, knowing that the sounds they chose will soothe them for as long as needed.

There are 20 stories in the free library, but you can subscribe for the full catalog.

10. Sleep Cycle: Sleep Tracker

Many sleep apps do contain some sleep-tracking elements. If you want to track how well your child is sleeping, Sleep Cycle is a free, simple tracker that will do the job without them needing to wear any device throughout the night. Instead, your phone or tablet’s microphone acts as a sleep recorder, allowing Sleep Cycle to use sound analysis to identify sleep states.

Sleep Cycle can be used as a gentle alarm clock, waking your child gently from sleep by sensing when their sleep cycle has reached a light sleep phase.
