I have run into a problem. I used NTFS for my Mac. I updated it recently and got Mavericks (After persuasions though I don't like a bit).
But a few days after when I connected it to my HD, it was unable to detect the drive. I disabled the NTFS and it could detect the drive successfully. But even after doing that there are some folders missing. I haven't had time to back-up the data too. Kindly help me out.

NTFS can only be read on OS X Mac. You can;t write on to it. Though you can use NTFS 3 G to access ntfs drive on OS X Mac 10.9

I would suggest to use a Windows system for any further inspection of the NTFS drive. See if the missing folders are there within Windows, if not use one of the many recovery tools to try recovering them.https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/best-windows-software/At the end of the day NTFS is a Microsoft proprietary file system for Windows and even if the third-party driver you are using states to fully support Mavericks there is always the chance of something going wrong. Finally, backup the data, open up Disk Utility, reformat it to ExFAT (with Master Boot partition map). ExFAT is supported by (almost) all current OS and there is even a patch for [the now obsolete] Windows XP.
