Is there a website MUO users could recommend that is similar to MakeUseOf for the topic of designing electronic gadgets and toys ? Both in volume, quality, and volume of useful posts ?

And also regarding reviews of companies that will manufacture prototypes of your designs for the best cost/value/quality ?

I have to agree with Jan that Instructables is THE site, but have a look also at makerfaire.com/ which has lots of links to manufacturers etc.

But Lifehacker's coverage is pretty much similar to MUO, although it does have a dedicated page for DIY project every now and then.

Right now the online page that comes to mind is Instructables but it's pretty much user-to-user content.http://www.instructables.com/

That's what pops in my mind too. Despite being user generated, most of the contents are good and you can find 'How-To's on almost everything you can imagine.
