I'm afraid what you're asking is slightly vague. If you're looking for important files to compile with, then please desist now, if you're looking for a cheat sheet for that, you are far, far out of your depth. If you're looking for important configuration files, the best place to look would be the Wiki of your distribution. I for example, used the Ubuntu Wiki to get my window options back on the right side of my titles bar, as the Mac way is very unintuitive and irritating. There is no simplification of this unfortunately, because Linux is designed functionality first, user friendly-ness 21st. There is no super control panel which puts every option at your finger tips, you've got to be willing to dig around several guides and deep files to get the experience you want.In either case, I hope you find what you're looking for

What do you mean by "important linux files"? There are so many versions and distributions of Linux, that I doubt very much "important files" could be compiled into a single list. Or do you mean configuration files such as device files, hosts etc?
