Recently I got an Intel i7 desktop computer. Whenever I play NFS HP or BLUR, after 2-3 hours the screen starts to flicker. The problem is fixed when I restart the computer, but after half hour or so the screen starts to flicker.

I had installed CORETEMP software. It used to popup again and again. However, in load window it used to show only 3-4% and temp of each core was not more than 45°C. tj.max was 98°C.

Also while using AUTOCAD 2009 I am getting an error saying "DISPLAY DRIVER HAD STOPPED RESPONDING AND HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY RECOVERED" and then it says that the program is not responding.

Ajinkya, a 500 Watt PSU is probably enough (can't be definite as it depends on the graphics card as well, but in all likelihood that's not where your problem lies). If your current PSU is acting up, however, then the only reliable way to diagnose is to try another (tested and good) PSU.Jim Chambers' suggestion also has merit, and might be easier to carry out first!

Since you installed the new drivers, has it still been giving you the Autocad error message? I had a machine that would give me that message. when I mailed tech support for the game it did it on, they said I needed to use Legacy drivers for the GPU.Good luck with your error....

Sounds like your GPU is overheating. Replace heatsink compound with quality brand and check that fan turns freely. May need to add a larger or a second case fan to increase cooling.

Can't be sure, but it sounds like a power supply problem. Power supplies often "half fail" resulting in components start-stopping and the sort of behaviour you describe. If you can borrow a good power supply (make sure it's strong enough, i7+graphics card will need a fair bit of power!), then try the other PSU and see if it works any better.

if PSU is faulty and do not deliver right amount of power, yap it can cause problems and normally nvidia or ATI should popup a message telling you that the graphic card needs more power.there are two types of power supply: Active PFC and Passive PFChttp://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/faqpfc.html
