There are so many programs that claim to be the best. I'm at a loss. How does Avast measure up against Norton 360 and AGV?

I am using Microsoft Security Essential Antivirus software since 2008.I have not encountered any problems like virus, spam, hackers etc.I hope this is the best antivirus I have ever used. Moreover it can be downloaded for free at Microsoft Security Essential website itself. No concern about validity expiring dates also.. It's really cool guys use it.. :)

I second MSE, it's better than many commercial security programs out there. If you're after free pnes, check out Avast and Avira, both are pretty decent in my opinion.http://www.makeuseof.com/pages/best-windows-software#antivirus

I am a big fan of Kaspersky, it's saved my Windows box countless times.https://www.anrdoezrs.net/links/7251228/type/dlg/sid/UUmuoUeUpU84399/https://usa.kaspersky.com/Norton still has that sluggish corporate feel to it, however has a leading firewall. AVG I simply didn't like, for a few reasons. One being that after I uninstalled it, components continued to run and cause issues. If Kaspersky isn't an option, do get Avast! It also is very good, both have a very sleek interface. There are studies online about comparisons of anti-viruses but make sure they are credible, as some are being paid under the table by the companies to post them higher on the recommendations (coughcoughwww.toptenreviews.comcoughcough) or are otherwise actually owned by an anti-virus company.Another thing to keep your eye on in studies is what it is they are detecting. An anti-virus is just that, an anti-VIRUS, many people think it's also an anti-malware, anti-spyware and firewall, many times it actually isn't. These may all be seperate products. However, that's why I like Kaspersky and Avast, they protect against malware, spyware, viruses and intrusions - all very well. You could also switch to a Linux Distribution and pay no money towards anti-virus software(: umad malware?
