Hold on to your Windows 10 installation because NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD are all set to release new major driver updates for the operating system. The new updates will arrive over the coming week and fix an array of bugs and other issues.

Windows 10 Driver Updates for NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD

Driver updates play an important role in keeping Windows 10 fully functioning. When bugs or issues begin to appear, hardware companies can release a driver update to resolve the issue.

In this case, NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD are all releasing driver updates during the same period. The updates fix a range of bugs, some critical, just in time for the holidays.

Intel December 2020 Driver Updates

Intel's December 2020 driver update resolves two issues affecting Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections.

First up, Intel is releasing a new Wi-Fi driver update. The Wi-Fi driver update fixes a critical issue that forces a bluescreen of death error for some users. It will also fix an issue relating to random Wi-Fi disconnections while playing online content, such as videos and games.

Intel is also releasing a Bluetooth driver that will fix known issues with headphones, mice, keyboards, and other Bluetooth devices. The driver will resolve a bug that causes a yellow alert in the Device Manager after resuming from sleep mode or hibernate.

NVIDIA December 2020 Driver Updates

NVIDIA's December driver update fixes issues with the WHQL driver.

WHQL stands for Windows Hardware Quality Labs. In NVIDIA's case, the WHQL driver confirms that the hardware components are safe for use with the system.

This update resolves an issue with the WHQL driver causing a bluescreen of death error for several graphics cards, plus adds support for the new NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti graphics card.

You can find the latest driver update in the NVIDIA GeForce Experience app or through the Nvidia Driver Download finder.

AMD December 2020 Driver Updates

AMD's December 2020 driver update comes in two parts.

The first is an update to AMD Radeon Software Adrenaline 2020 Edition for Windows. The new driver adds support for the video game, Immortals Fenyx Rising, new Vulkan Ray Tracing extensions and stability, and many fixes for other games.

An update to the AMD GPU driver will fix in-game rendering issues while using Windows 10's integrated HDR mode.

You can find the driver updates and release notes on the AMD Support page.

Update Your Drivers to Stay Safe

These driver updates focus on updating hardware and resolving critical errors. You should install updates in a timely fashion, as aside from making sure your computer doesn't crash, they often include critical security fixes, too.

While they can feel like a pain and can arrive at inopportune moments, having your computer crash or finding a security hole exploited is much worse.
