I have an MSI netbook. It has Windows XP 32 bit. When Windows 8 first came out, I purchased, for $15.00 a preview priced download. I have not tried loading it on the netbook. I did try the latest version of Ubuntu. It is far too complicated for me to understand how to get things to work. Visiting forums is no joy as the explanations are well beyond my technical expertise. I can't tell you how long it took me to understand "Distro" meant distribution rather than destruction. Also people use initials assuming people have a clear understanding what they mean and how it might impact one's ability to use the product.

However, that $15.00 Windows 8 is on a flash drive but I am leery to install it. I am not even sure how to format the hard drive. I once thought I could do it at the command prompt with format c:\, but that does not seem to be the answer. I tried to find something in the control panel but no joy there either. My data is backed-up off site so that is not an issue. But learning how to format the drive and then starting the computer with no operating system, bewilders me. With no operating system, how to I tell the computer to see the disk drive?
