I would like to install windows 7 on my external hard drive and was wondering if that was possible.

Nope, unfortunatelly Microsoft doesn't permit an external install. Your only options are:1- either to plug the drive to your PC via SATA/IDE cable (not an option for laptops unless you are ready to buy a SATA extension card for a laptop)2- or create another partition on your primary drive and install it there.Also see:
