I want to install Ubuntu 11.04 on a laptop. Its specifications are as follows:

HP g6-1a30us 15.6" Laptop

AMD Athlon&trade

II Dual-Core Processor (2.30GHz)

3GB installed memory

320GB hard drive

So, should I purchase the laptop? Please reply. Thank you.

Yes, you just need 1 GB ram (512 too works). However, are you trying to install with windows or only Ubuntu is the right question :)

You should be able to install it without a problem. You can download it here:http://www.ubuntu.com/download/server/downloadAnd in there you will also find information on how to setup an installation CD or USB. I do recommend you do a "Live test" before installing. Just Burn your CD or set up your USB and insert it in your Laptop, reboot your computer and make it boot from CD or USB (depending on what you are using). You should see a Ubuntu loading screen and then a menu with all the stuff you can do, one of them is direct install and the other is Live Testing the software without installing. You should test it first and write down the problems you encounter and then look for solutions online before installing Ubuntu.
