We wrote articles on this a while back:- http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/install-hard-drive/- http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/install-ide-hard-drive/Just so you know though, adding a second hard drive is not going to make your computer any faster. It will simply give you more space to store stuff.

Hello, just install the hardware and once that is done, format your drive. When formatting your drive, you will have the opportunity of choosing ntfs, fat, fat32, etc, and also it is going to assign a letter to the drive. Of course, you can assign whatever letter is available or go with the default. Choose ntfs as your extension and once the process is finished you will be able to see the drive. Once drive is recognized, you can partition the drive if needed. Just keep in mind that windows only recognized 4 primary partitions, or 3 primary partitions and an extended partition.
