Don't want to miss out on posts from your favorite creators on Instagram? The social media platform makes it easy for you to do that.

All you have to do is turn on notifications to stay updated on their recent posts and switch to your favorites. Here are a few ways to help you keep up with your favorite accounts on the platform...

Turning On Instagram Notifications for Specific Users

Instagram profile on smartphone

Instagram allows you to turn on post notifications for someone you follow on the app. Doing this means that Instagram will let you know each time that user posts a photo or video, or when they go live.

Turning on post notifications makes it easy to stay updated on what your favorite creators are up to, so you don't miss out.

Sure, you can manually search for a creator's profile and check their feed to see if they've posted anything, but that's a tedious process.

But turning on post notifications means that you can open their new posts and view them quickly, without relying on manually checking or algorithm-curated feeds.

Unlike turning on general notifications for Instagram Live, which applies to multiple accounts, these settings allow you to tweak notifications for specific accounts.

How to Turn On Notifications for Specific Accounts on Instagram

Follow the steps below to turn on post notifications for an account on Instagram:

  1. Open the Instagram app on your phone.
  2. Go to the Profile of the user you want to get notifications for.
  3. Tap the bell icon next to their name at the top of the screen.
  4. Now select the type of content you want to receive notifications for, and toggle each one on.

You can set notifications for specific types of content on Instagram. These include Posts, Stories, Reels, Videos, and Live videos. If you want, you can choose to receive notifications for all of these.

For Live videos, you have the option of choosing how often you want to be notified when someone you follow goes Live— whether you want a notification only sometimes or every time.

And that's it. Simply repeat this step for each account you want to get notifications for.

To avoid getting too many notifications from Instagram, disable other notifications on the app by going to Settings > Notifications and tapping the notifications you want to disable.

Switch to the Feed for Your Favorite Creators

Another simple way to keep up with creators on Instagram is by viewing their posts in the Favorites feed.

This allows you to conveniently view the latest posts from all your favorite creators in one consolidated feed, instead of individually. But first, you have to add users to your Instagram Favorites list.

Once that's done, all you have to do is switch from the Home feed to the Favorites feed every time you open the Instagram app. Here's how:

  1. Tap the Instagram button in the top-left corner of your Home feed.
  2. Tap Favorites in the drop-down menu to see posts from your favorite accounts.

Just keep in mind that each time you exit the Favorites feed or close the app and reopen it, you will land on the Home feed. So you will need to switch back to the Favorites feed again.

Instagram Notifications Make It Easy to Keep Up With Your Favs

Like any other social media platform, Instagram is fast-paced, so it's easy to get left behind.

But turning on notifications reduces the chances of that happening, and helps you stay on top of what your favorite accounts are up to.

This can make your Instagram experience more meaningful, as you will be able to see more of the content you prefer, as it is posted.
