Instagram Launches New Insight Tools for Reels and Live

In a blog post, Instagram announced the launch of new insight tools for Instagram Reels and Live content. The new tools are found in the Professional Dashboard, and have been targeted towards content creators and businesses.

By releasing these new insight tools, Instagram gives creators and businesses a more in-depth look at the reach of their Reels and Live content on the platform. TikTok already offers similar features, so perhaps Instagram is trying to compete with the rival platform.

The new Reels metrics on offer include plays, accounts reached, saves, and shares. For Live content, the new metrics show accounts reached, peak concurrent viewers, and shares. Professional accounts can access these new metrics on the content itself, and in the Account Insights section of the app.

In the Account Insights section, Instagram also shows new information about the reach of Reels and Live content. The platform offers more information and further breakdowns about the reach of content to other Instagram users, such as the most effective type of post.

How Do Instagram's New Insights Help?

Instagram explained that it's rolling out these new tools "as part of our ongoing effort to give professionals the tools they need". The new insights come from "feedback from creators and businesses", and are available now on the platform.

Previously, Instagram only offered some fairly limited insights in the Account Insights section of the platform. Professional users could see insights into both stories and regular posts, with information such as demographics and key activity times.

While the new features don't offer more in terms of app functionality, they do provide essential insights into how posts perform. These insights can help businesses make decisions on how effective their content is, so they can change strategies if necessary.
