Whenever I click on a link in a window that opens a new tab, or use Ctrl+ click, I get a new tab with nothing in it, just the original page's URL in the address bar.

Or, hey, here's a better idea - install a better internet browser. There is no excuse for using IE, ever. The latest version does not fix anything, and is no different to every past iteration of the most useless non-web-standards-compliant software ever. If every website in the world could remove the additonal code required to make them work in IE, the web would be a much faster place.

I couldn't agree more.

Try Click Start, input Internet Explorer, choose to start Internet Explorer (with no Add-ons), does it work here? If it works with no Add-ons, try to manage the Add-ons, enable them one by one to find which cause this issueorTools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab > Reset button.Try the follow steps if the above failed.1. Quit all programs that are running.2. Click Start, click Run.3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, then click OK.4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.5. If this doesn't resolve the problem, type each of the following one by one:Shdocvw.dllActxprxy.dllOleaut32.dllMshtml.dllBrowseui.dllShell32.dllIf all doesn't work, try to reinstall the Internet Explorer 9.

Hi,I have the same problem, you gave a solution but for which Windows ?
2011-07-11 16:06:00
Internet Explorer is available only for Windows Vista and Windows 7. Hence the solution is for either of those (very similar) versions of Windows.
