HP is a CES heavyweight. The company almost always takes the chance to announce new hardware at the annual CES tradeshow in Las Vegas.

Despite this year's event being a virtual gathering, HP has stuck to its ethos and taken the covers off four new laptops for 2021.

For the average consumer, the biggest news a refreshed version of the ever-popular HP Envy 14.

Some of the standout specs from the new release include 11th-gen Intel Core processors, a 16:10 screen that provides 11 percent more viewing area than the previous 16:9 screen, and the debut of Delta E <2 color calibration on a 14-inch screen.

You also get a fingerprint reader, a physical shutter for the webcam, and an AI noise removal tool to help maintain voice clarity on calls.

The refreshed Envy 14 will have 16GB of RAM, 256GB of PCIe storage, and will weigh just 3.5 pounds. HP claims the battery will last for 16.5 hours.

The laptop will hit stores later this month and will cost $999.

More New HP Laptops at CES 2021

While the new Envy 14 will probably grab the most attention, HP has also refreshed its business-focused Elite Dragonfly range for 2021—there's an updated G2 model as well as an all-new Dragonfly Max edition.

The two new models arguably have more similarities than differences. They each have 13.3-inch screens, 11th-gen Intel processors (though the i3 is only available on the G2), and support up to 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage.

Both also offer a single USB 3.1 charging port, two USB-C ports, an HDMI port, and a nano-SIM slot.

The biggest differences between the two models can be found in the display. The Dragonfly Max is only available in 1920 x 1080 resolution, while the G2 can be configured with either an HD or 4K display.

You will also find differences in the webcams. While the G2 is capped at 1.2 MP, the Max offers 5 MP. If you spent a lot of time on video calls in 2020 due to the pandemic, and expect the trend to continue into 2021, the extra quality is almost certainly worth the money.

5G options are available on both devices. At the time of launch, they will work with AT&T and T-Mobile networks in the US.

Both of the new business laptops will be available in January, though HP has not yet confirmed prices for either. Based on last year's prices, we'd expect them to cost upwards of $1500.
