Apple Fitness+ offers a wide variety of different video workouts that harness the power of the Apple Watch to provide a great way to get fit. But the service's Time to Walk feature is a bit different.

Instead of standing in front of a screen, this feature encourages you to go for a stroll and listen to stories while viewing meaningful photos from influential and unique stars. We'll highlight more about the feature and what you need to get started below.

What Is Time to Walk?

Just think of Time to Walk as a unique podcast-like experience with celebrities and other influential names. Some of the episodes include country music legend Dolly Parton, NBA star Draymond Green, musician Sean Mendes, and Emmy award winner Uzo Aduba.

In the 25- to 40-minute episodes, the guest will talk about their personal, life-shaping moments. On the screen of your Apple Watch, you can also see photos that help tell the story. At the end of the story, you'll hear a story playlist of meaningful songs selected by the guest.

Getting Started With Time to Walk

You need to have a subscription to Apple Fitness+ to access Time to Walk. You also need an Apple Watch Series 3 or later and Bluetooth headphones, like Apple's AirPods.

The great news is that you don't have to do anything to download a Time to Walk Episode. As long as your Apple Watch is charging and connected to Wi-Fi, the five latest episodes will automatically download to your watch.

Just to note, the amount of free storage on your watch might affect how many episodes are available. Once you've listened to an episode, your watch automatically deletes it. Then, a new episode will take its place.

You can also download a specific Time to Walk episode using an iPhone. Head to the Fitness app and select the Fitness+ tab. In the Time To Walk section, choose Show All. You can view all of the available episodes here.

Tap an episode to see more information about what to expect and the songs from the playlist. On that page, use the Add button to download the episode to your watch. If the episode is already downloaded to your watch it'll say Downloaded and show a checkmark.

If you have a cellular-enabled Apple Watch, there's no need to worry about having to download an episode since you can still stream episodes without needing an iPhone nearby.

When you're ready for a stroll, open up the Apple Watch Workout app. Tap the Time to Walk episode to start. If movement is detected using the Apple Watch's GPS, the workout is recorded as an outdoor walk. If not, the workout will count as an indoor walk.

While on the walk, swipe left to lock your watch screen, pause the workout, or end the workout. A right swipe will bring up media controls and allow you to pause the audio, skip forward or backward in the episode or move between the playlist songs.

If you'd like to manually delete a Time to Walk episode, open up the Workout app on your Apple Watch and tap the i icon near the celebrity name. Scroll down to the bottom and then choose Remove.
