Have you ever rushed to take a video on iPhone to capture a moment in time? You panic as you frantically try to navigate to your iPhone’s camera to Video mode, only to miss the moment.

If you have, you’re not alone, since switching to Video mode can take several seconds—enough to miss important memories.

To solve this problem, just use Apple’s QuickTake feature to take a video without leaving Photo mode. You can use this feature if you have an iPhone XS, iPhone XR, or later.

How to Take a Video With QuickTake

QuickTake is a feature of your iPhone’s camera that allows you to grab a video without leaving photo mode.

Open the Camera app. Then, if you just need a quick clip, press and hold the Shutter button. Your iPhone will start recording. Release to end the video.

If you want to continue recording without holding your finger down, slide the Shutter button onto the padlock icon to the right. Once you see a new circle appear on the right side, you can release your finger.

Suppose you want to take snaps while video recording via QuickTake. Simply tap the shutter button on the right after locking the recording.

When you’re finished recording, tap the record button at the center.

An Alternative Way to Record

If your iPhone is running on iOS 14 or later, you also have the option to use the Volume Up button to take a video. To do this, hold the Volume Up button while in Photo mode.

Remember that you should hold the button until you’re done taking the video. If you’ve enabled using burst photos on your iPhone, use the Volume Down button to take a video instead.

Don’t Miss Precious Moments

With the iPhone Camera’s QuickTake feature, you can capture priceless memories with just a swift move of a finger. And to save your fingers, you can always lock the recording by sliding onto the padlock icon as well. It couldn't be easier.
