Movies Anywhere is available on Samsung smart TVs. No longer will you have to switch between multiple movie streaming apps every time you want to enjoy the movies you've purchased online. The addition of the Movies Anywhere app on your Samsung TV means you can access all your movies in one place.

We're going to explain what Movies Anywhere is and how to use it on your Samsung TV.

What Is Movies Anywhere?

Movies Anywhere is a Disney-owned digital locker that allows you to house your film purchases under one roof for free, while also allowing you to watch them on other movie streaming apps. Think of it as giving all your movies one home, while giving them access to other "homes".

In March 2021, Movies Anywhere announced that it was launching on Samsung Smart TVs. At the time of writing, Movies Anywhere is only available for US consumers and Disney has no publically announced plans to expand the service to other parts of the world.

You can access your movies anywhere you go (digitally), hence the name. Movies Anywhere works with streaming services such as iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play/YouTube and the Microsoft Store.

Movies Anywhere is also backed by most major studios such as Disney, Universal, Sony, Fox and Warner Bros., with more than 8,000 movies in the app's catalog.

How Does Movies Anywhere Work?

Movies Anywhere essentially makes it easier and more convenient for you to manage and watch all your favorite paid-for movies. The idea is that you pay for the movies you like on their respective digital retail stores, but you get to keep and watch them on Movies Anywhere at no additional cost to you.

Because Movies Anywhere is backed by most of the major studios, the movies produced by those studios will appear in the Movies Anywhere app, regardless of where you originally purchased them.

What's more, those movies should appear in each of the streaming services that are linked to your Movies Anywhere account, allowing you to watch the movies you've bought from one digital retailer on another digital retailer's app.

Say, for instance, you buy a movie from Warner Bros. on iTunes. After you've linked your accounts through Movies Anywhere, that movie will then be available in the Google Play and Amazon Prime apps on your devices, in addition to the Movies Anywhere app.

That means you can access and watch that movie on Google Play and Amazon as well, at no extra cost. It will also be available on all the other streaming apps that you may be registered on.

It's important to note that you cannot purchase any movies on Movies Anywhere. The movie streaming service only serves to centralize your movie purchases from different digital retailers.

How to Share Movies With Others Using Screen Pass

Movies Anywhere has a Screen Pass feature which allows you to lend most of your library of movies (up to three movies a month) to anyone who has a Movies Anywhere account, without that movie ever leaving your collection.

Once your friend receives your Screen Pass notification, they have 14 days to accept it, and then have 72 hours to watch that movie from the moment they accept it. You can share the same movie with up to three accounts per month. Best of all, this feature is free.

How to Watch Movies With Others Remotely Using Screen Pass

The Samsung Smart TV release of Movies Anywhere also supports the Watch Together feature. This lets you and up to nine of your friends watch a movie simultaneously online while engaging in a shared chat room.

As the host, you send the code to your friends so they can join. In order to join, your friends have to have the same movie you intend to watch, or a Screen Pass of that movie.

The addition of Movies Anywhere to Samsung Smart TVs solves this problem by centralizing your movie collection, giving you convenience and control.
