The Apple Watch provides a number of great features like a health tracker, communication devices, and even a music player, all in a tiny package.

But there’s something you might not know that the Apple Watch can provide—a flashlight.

We’ll show you how to activate the Apple Watch flashlight and the different modes.

Head to Your Apple Watch Control Center

To activate the flashlight mode, you’ll first need to enter Control Center.

To do that, raise your wrist or tap the Apple Watch screen. On your main watch face and swipe up. If you’re a new Apple Watch owner looking to find out more about the Control Center, hit up our Apple Watch beginner’s guide.

Scroll down using your finger or the Digital Crown and select the flashlight icon.

Apple Watch red flashlight

There are three flashlight modes to select from—steady white light, flashing white light, or steady red light. Swipe left to switch between the different modes.

The steady white light is a good option for when you need a bit of light to better see in a dark room or while fishing for your car keys. The flashing white light is perfect to use when running at night to let others know you’re on the road.

And the red light can help preserve your night vision while helping to better see what’s around you.

Just to note, after you select the flashlight mode, it will be the brightest when the screen is facing away from you. When you turn the screen to facing you, the light will darken a bit and show the time.

To turn off the flashlight, quickly press the Digital Crown or side button or swipe down from the top of the screen.
