Night Mode is a nifty feature that essentially silences your Google Home device at night. It is one of the Google Home settings you should consider changing, especially if you hate how loud and bright your device is just when you're ready to hit the hay. Once turned on, Night Mode allows you to change the brightness and volume of your speaker or display to avoid disturbing you or anyone else in the room.

How to Turn on Night Mode

Enabling Night Mode on any of your Google Home devices is straightforward to do. All you need is an internet connection and your phone with the Google Home app. Then, simply follow these steps to turn on Night Mode:

  1. Launch the Google Home app on your Android or iOS device.
  2. Check if you're logged into an account that is linked to your Google Home device. If not, switch your account.
  3. Tap on the device tile on the home screen.
  4. Select the Settings gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
  5. Under General, tap on Notifications & digital wellbeing > Night mode.
  6. Turn on the toggle switch next to Enable night mode.
  7. Select what days and times you want Night Mode to be active.
  8. Optionally, turn on Do not disturb if you also want to disable the notification sounds whenever Night Mode is active. With this setting on, you can still use reminders on your Google Home, but you won't be able to hear the reminder sounds. However, alarms and timers are excluded from this rule.
  9. Adjust the slider for LED brightness at night and Maximum volume at night depending on your preferences.
