Sending one email at a time to a list of contacts can take away a big chunk of your day if you want them to be personalized. This type of campaign may not be worth tracking if it's just wasting your time.

With the Yet Another Mail Merge add-on to Google Sheets, all you need is a contact list, Google Sheets, and Gmail to send hundreds of personalized emails to your contacts all at once.

Create Your Google Sheet and Email Draft

In order to set up bulk emailing, you will need to create a Google Sheet containing the contact info for all the people you plan to reach.

In addition to creating an email template, you also need to set up a sheet template, so that your contacts will automatically sync up when you merge both the sheet and email.

There are a couple of ways to enter your contacts into your Google Sheet depending on if you have a pre-existing contact list in Google.

Sending Bulk Emails From Scratch

  1. Open Google Sheets and create a new Blank document.
  2. Add the column headers you will include in your bulk emails, such as email address and first name. These must always be in Row 1.

Your emails will have been sent to your entire list of contacts that you have added to the Google Sheet.

Sending Bulk Emails Using Pre-Existing Contact List

Create a draft email as you did in the previous step. But, instead of adding all your contacts manually into a Google Sheet, you'll import them from an existing list.

  1. Open Google Sheets and create a new Blank document.
  2. Click on the Add-ons option at the top menu.
  3. Select Yet Another Mail Merge (YAMM) > Import Contacts (Google, Salesforce).
  4. Select the contact list you'd like to import.
  5. Or, select the specific contact list from the dropdown.

  6. Click the Import Contacts button.
  7. Click Start Mail Merge and follow steps 9-13 from the previous list.

Although this requires setting up your list in advance, you'll end up saving a lot of time versus manually entering all your data into your spreadsheet.

Track Your Data

Once you send your bulk emails, you can head back into the sheet you created for the campaign in order to see your campaign data.

When you open the sheet, you'll notice that there's a popup sidebar on the right-hand view that displays all the stats for your campaign.

This includes emails that are opened, clicked, responded to, bounced, and unsubscribed. You'll also notice that there is a column header labeled Merge Status where it will list all of the stats next to each individual email address.

It will also be color-coded so you can easily identify specific email addresses in your campaign. The sidebar only tracks emails sent in the past 10 days, so you'll need to manually keep track of your entire campaign if you want to find out more.

If you've closed the sidebar for any reason, head to the menu option Yet Another Mail Merge > Open tracking report.

This will reopen the sidebar, and you'll be able to view all data again.

YAMM Pricing

The first 50 emails you send using YAMM are absolutely free. But if you plan on sending a bigger campaign or have a large office where you need to send many emails at once, you'll need to upgrade to a bigger plan.

YAMM separates its pricing into three categories: Personal, Team, and Unlimited.

Personal

The Personal plan has two pricing options based on if you have a regular Gmail address or if you are using a Google Workspace account. The regular Gmail address costs $20 a year and comes with up to 400 recipients a day with one user access.

The Workspace account costs $40 a year and includes up to 1500 recipients a day with one user access.

Team

If you have a Google Workspace domain, YAMM charges by the number of team members you need. Plan range from 5-100 users and costs anywhere between $100-$2,000. All plans allow up to 1500 recipients a day per user.

Unlimited

For companies with more than 100 users, you will not be able to purchase online, but you can still contact YAMM to receive a custom quote, depending on how many users you need.

You can technically add as many users as you want, and they will all get up to 1500 recipients per day per user with all features included.
