Have you ever deleted an Instagram post by accident? Have you ever experienced getting hacked on Instagram and seeing your posts deleted without even knowing?

Don’t worry because you are not the only one who has experienced this. Instagram has introduced a feature that allows users to restore recently deleted posts.

Here's what to know about the tool and how to use it...

What Is Recently Deleted on Instagram?

Instagram's Recently Deleted feature helps account owners to manage content better by allowing them to restore posts that were accidentally deleted.

Instagram account owners now have the option to review and restore deleted content. The social media platform also included additional protection to prevent hackers from deleting posts with the update.

Since hackers often delete content on targeted accounts, Instagram says that it will verify account ownership before allowing users to remove or restore posts.

Meanwhile, deleted content can still be accessed and restored in the Recently Deleted folder for 30 days.

This folder differs from your automatically saved Stories in your Instagram Archive.

  1. Click your profile picture.
  2. Tap the Menu icon.
  3. Go to Settings.
  4. Choose Account.
  5. Select Recently Deleted.
  6. Tap the post that you want to restore.
  7. Click the three-dot icon on the upper right.
  8. Click Restore to complete the process.

At the time of writing, the Recently Deleted folder had not appeared for some users despite using an updated version of the app.

Restoring and Protecting

By having this added feature, Instagram account owners have more control over their content and can restore posts that they've deleted in error.

It also gives you a second chance to recover a post if you've changed your mind about deleting it, while offering protection from hackers who remove content from accounts.
