Sometimes, your Kindle book isn't going to be 100% perfect. Although rare, there might be typos, missing text, or formatting errors.

Thankfully, you don't have to accept this as permanent. Your Kindle allows you to report any content errors you find to be considered for future updates.

Let's take a look at how you report content errors on your Kindle.

Step 1: Select What You Want to Report

Selecting text on a Kindle.

To select what you want to report, be it a word, phrase, image, or anything else, press and hold the content until it is underlined or has a box around on or it (for images). You can adjust what is selected by dragging the sliders at either end.

You can also select words or phrases for other reasons, such as to quickly see word definitions on Kindle or to highlight and annotate passages on Kindle.

Step 2: Specify the Error That You're Reporting

The 'Report Content Error' section on Kindle, on the 'Text' category.

Once you've selected what you want to report, tap the three dots by the search icon and select Report Content Error.

Here, you'll see three main categories, Text, Image, and More, each with its own subcategories, that help you specify what kind of error you want to report.

Step 3: Submit Your Selected Error

Reporting a typo using a Kindle.

To report your selected error, select which category and subcategory it falls into and type in any comments you may have, such as any spelling suggestions or what text might be missing, and press Submit.

You'll then receive a "thank you" message acknowledging that your error has been reported. To return to your book, tap OK or outside the text box.

The Best Version of Your Ebook

Reporting content errors is a very quick and easy process, moving you one step closer towards gaining an ebook that's perfectly formatted. This is a step-up from physical books–if you spot an error in a physical book, there's not really anything you can do.

As any of the millions of Kindle readers around the world can report content errors, it's worth checking to see if any of your Kindle books need updating.
