The PS5 DualSense controller is a versatile beast. Not only is it capable of controlling all of your PlayStation games, but you can pair it with other devices to control games on those, too.

But how do you put your DualSense into Bluetooth pairing mode? Let's take a look.

Putting the PS5 DualSense Into Pairing Mode

Putting the PS5 controller into Bluetooth pairing mode is a straightforward operation. However, it may not be immediately apparent to you. Xbox Series X controllers, for example, have a dedicated button for pairing. The DualSense doesn't.

Here, you must use a button combination. Press and hold the PlayStation button (in the middle of the controller) and the Create button at the same time. The create button is above the directional buttons, to the left of the DualSense touchpad.

You'll know as soon as the PS5 controller is in pairing mode. The light bar that surrounds the touchpad will start to pulse on and off, indicating that it is ready to pair with another device. Now you can let go of the buttons.

Why Put Your DualSense Into Pairing Mode?

As mentioned, you can use the DualSense to control games on a wide range of other devices. It isn't just limited to controlling PlayStation titles.

For example, if you have Steam, then the DualSense controller is now compatible with the popular gaming platform. You can use it to control games there.

Likewise, if you want to play games natively on your PC or laptop, you can connect your DualSense via Bluetooth and use it here, too.

Note that the PS5 DualSense controller doesn't work with the PC version of PlayStation Now. So, to access and use PS Now on your PC, you can still only use a DualShock controller. You won't need pairing mode for this until Sony adds DualSense controller compatibility to the game streaming service.

Also, you'll need to put it into pairing mode to pair it back up with your PS5, once you've finished using it with another device.

So, there it is; an easy process, but now you know how to set your DualSense up ready to pair with another device.

The DualSense is the latest (and possibly greatest) controller from Sony, so it does make you wonder why it doesn't have a dedicated pairing button. That would surely make life easier for its users.

Saying that, none of the previous Bluetooth PS controllers had such a button, either, so why try to fix what isn't broken?
