The Sonos lineup of home theater speakers is growing. The company recently unveiled the new Sonos Ray.

We’ll take a closer look at the entry-level soundbar and give you all the details, including how to order it and when it will be available.

A Lower-Cost Home Theater Upgrade

The new soundbar is squarely aimed at users not wanting to spend a lot of cash.

Like some of the other best soundbars for audiophiles on a budget, the Sonos Ray doesn’t offer features found on higher-end models like Dolby Atmos support or the ability to connect via an HDMI cable.

But it does sport the high-quality sound Sonos is known for in a compact package designed to be tucked away.

You’ll connect the Ray with an optical cable input, something the vast majority of modern TVs support.

Sonos says the Ray features a balanced sound that will harmonize both high and mid-range frequencies and provide weighted bass. It also offers speech enhancement for clearer dialogue and a Night Sound feature that reduces the intensity of loud effects so that you won’t disturb anyone sleeping.

When your TV is off, the soundbar offers Wi-Fi connectivity so you can play music and much more via the Sonos app, Apple’s AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, and more. The Ray can also be used as part of a whole-home audio system with other Sonos products.

Anyone with an iOS device can use the Sonos Trueplay feature that will fine-tune the Ray for the room where it’s located.

An Expanding Soundbar Lineup

Sonos has always been known for its high-end home theater speakers.

But the Ray open up the company’s well-regarded ecosystem to a new set of buyers looking for an inexpensive soundbar upgrade.
