Amazon has updated Alexa with the ability to let users move their favorite music tracks, radio programs, or podcast episodes between multiple Echo devices. With the update, you can pause playback on one device and pick up where it left off on another.

This is a great feature if you have multiple Echo devices in your home, as it means you can listen to your favorite music or programs in different rooms.

It's not just for the Echo speakers but also for Echo Buds earbuds and Echo Auto.

How to Transfer Music With Alexa

You'll need to have more than one Echo device or Alexa-enabled speaker to transfer music. It also needs to be playing a song or playlist you want to transfer.

Echo Buds

Connect your Echo Buds to your phone via Bluetooth and say, "Alexa, move my music here," and the track you are listening to should move to your Echo Buds.

Echo Auto

The first thing you need to do is pause the music on the Echo speaker in your home. Once you're in your car with your phone connected to the Echo Auto, just say, "Alexa, resume music."

Echo Speakers

Just say "Alexa, pause" to the Echo speaker playing music or radio stations you're not interested in listening to anymore, then "Alexa, resume music here" or "Alexa, resume radio here" to the Echo speaker you want to move your music to.

How to Transfer Music Between Groups With Alexa

You can also move music between groups. This is great if you have multiple Echo devices added to a group like "kitchen" or "bedroom" and want to move music or podcasts between them.

Say, "Alexa, move my music to the living room" or "Alexa, move my podcast to the kitchen."

This will move the music or podcast to the speaker in that group.

You can also move it back to the Echo speaker it was originally playing on by saying, "Alexa, move my music to the bedroom" or "Alexa, move my podcast to the kitchen."

Enjoy Your Music

This new update is a great way to keep your music organized and easily accessible. With just a few voice commands, you can move what you're listening to around your home without having to get up off the couch.

It's not clear when the moving audio feature will be available for third-party Alexa devices outside of the Amazon family.

So, next time you're getting ready for work and want to listen to some tunes in the kitchen, or you're relaxing in the bedroom and want to listen to the news, you can easily move content around with Alexa.
