Do you need to send an urgent email, but can't find the recipient's email address? Luckily, there is a simple workaround that can help you find and verify email addresses.

Using a set of free tools, we'll show you how to get and vet email addresses from information already available in the public domain. Here's how to find and verify any email address.

1. Find Your Recipient's Name

First and last names are often required by email finders to generate email address suggestions. If you don't know your recipient's full name, try the following methods.

Check Out Their Corporate Website

When trying to find someone's email address, it's worth trying to grab it from the website associated with their workplace. Here, we'll show you how to easily do this, using CNN as an example.

  1. Visit their company/organization's website (e.g. CNN).
    Find name from company website
  2. Locate the page titled "About Us," "Meet the Team," or something similar. From there, you can typically find the name you need.
  3. For this example, click on the hamburger menu to the top right, or scroll down to the footer area. Click on CNN Profiles. Now, you have a list of names associated with the company.
Find a name by clicking on CNN profiles
  4. Depending on the site you're visiting, you can also contact support via live chat. In that case, state your mission, and ask for a name and email address. Most companies will gladly oblige your request.

A website is often a treasure trove of information. Explore every opportunity to find a contact person in order to get a name.

Find Their Contact Information Via LinkedIn

If you have no luck finding the person's email on their workplace's website, you can always try contacting them through LinkedIn. Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Go to LinkedIn.
  2. Search for the company/organization by name (e.g. CNN).
  3. In the header section, click on People.
LinkedIn header section showing People details
  4. In the Employees section, you can search for employees by title, keyword, or school.
  5. You can also narrow your search down by clicking on Where they live and Where they studied.
  6. Scroll down to People you may know and scan the list.
    LinkedIn people you may know
  7. See a familiar face? Send a connection request and ask for their email. Otherwise, just take note of their first and last names.

Finding contact information via LinkedIn is preferred. People usually use their real names on LinkedIn, unlike other social platforms like Facebook.

2. Use Email Finders to Find and Verify Email Addresses

If you know a person's first and last name, you can use an email finder tool to hunt for their email address. To do this, we will be using MailScoop, Hunter, and Snovio.

How to Find Email Addresses Using MailScoop

MailScoop uses a person's first name, last name, and company website to predict someone's email address. Here's how to use this tool:

  1. Go to MailScoop.
    MailScoop find email addresses
  2. Enter the person's first and last name.
  3. Enter the person's company/organization's website. For example, cnn.com.
  4. Click Find It.

  5. And voilà, you have an email address suggestion.
  6. When you're ready to send out an email, hover over the email address, and select Click to copy to copy it.

Keep in mind that at the bottom of the suggested email address, you'll see how confident MailScoop is in its prediction. In our example, this read: "We are pretty confident this is the right email," as the site was likely able to find and verify the address.

If the site can't verify an email, or if the email is incorrect, you'll see a message that says: "We couldn't verify this email, this is our best guess."

How to Find Email Addresses Using Hunter

You can also search for email addresses via Hunter, but keep in mind that a business email is usually required to create a Hunter account. Here's how to start searching with Hunter:

  1. Go to Hunter.
  2. Enter the company/organization's domain name (e.g. cnn.com). Then, click on Find email addresses.
    Find email address with Hunter
  3. Several employee email addresses will be generated. Scan to see if you can find the one that belongs to your target.
    Hunter search results
  4. If you can't find the name and email address you're looking for, enter the person's first and last names into the Find someone search bar, and press Enter.

I searched for my non-existent CNN.com email address on Hunter, and found that it generated an email address. It also displayed a couple of warnings: "The email address can't be verified," and "We haven't found this email on the web."

Hunter found but cant verify my cnn email address lol

Make sure to pay attention to these messages before sending out an email to a suggested address.

How to Find Email Addresses Using Snov.io

If you still can't find the address you're looking for, you can also try finding emails through Snov.io. Here's how to do this:

  1. Visit Snov.io and log in.
  2. Click on Find emails > Single Email Search at the top menu bar.
    Snov.io single email search
  3. Enter the person's first and last names, as well as the company's domain name. Then, click on Find email.
    Email search tool on Snovio
  4. If the search was successful, Snov.io will display a message that reads: "Match found." You should then see the person's name, position, and email address. If Snov.io can't find the person's email address, or isn't confident in the email it generated, you'll either see "Can't find emails," or "Inconclusive result."
  5. Snovio also has a built-in verification feature. Click on Verify Emails > Verify Individual Emails in the top menu bar to use it. Now, enter an email to verify it.
    Verify email adderss on Snov.io

When verifying email addresses on Snov.io, there are three possible outcomes.

  • Invalid email address
  • Unverifiable (risky) email address
  • Valid email address

Make sure to take these messages into account before sending out an email. If the result comes back as "Unverifiable," use caution when sending an email to that address.

For best results, always ensure that your spellings are 100 percent accurate. If for some reason your search returns a negative result, you can always try guessing the person's email address.

3. If You Still Can't Find the Email Address, Just Guess It

As a last resort, you'll want to guess the person's email address. After all, that's exactly what email address finders do—they make mathematically informed guesses.

Thankfully, you need not be a mathematician to do this. Here's what to do.

  1. Open Hunter.
  2. Type in the company's domain name and press Enter.
  3. Study the results and observe the email address naming pattern. For instance, are the email addresses for the specific company typically formatted as: "firstname.lastname@domain?"
    Hunter email naming convention
  4. Apply the pattern to generate your best guess email address combination, e.g. joy.okumoko@cnn.com.

4. Send the Email Anyway

Simply sending an email is another method to verify that you have a genuine email address. To get the most out of this method, we suggest that you use an email tracking extension, such as Mailtrack, Bananatag, or Mixmax.

  1. Launch your preferred email client, and compose your email.
  2. Send your email to the predicted address.
  3. Your email will be successfully delivered if the email address is correct. If you have a mail tracker enabled, the mail tracker will notify you once your recipient has read it.
    Delievered email was verified
  4. If the email is incorrect, your email will bounce or return as undeliverable.
