With its launch in March 2021, Paramount+ replaced CBS All Access, offering subscribers a better platform from which to enjoy the content they already know and love alongside great new original content.

Paramount+ offers over 30,000 episodes of content, many of which are available to download and watch offline. In this article, we explain how to download Paramount+ content to watch offline, who can do so, and some issues you may run into when doing so.

How to Download Paramount+ Content

Downloading Paramount+ content for offline viewing is a simple process. First, download the latest version of the Paramount+ app onto the device you wish to view the content on.

Once you log in to your account, you can download content in one of two ways. You can simply click on a show you would like to download, locate the download arrow, and click it to begin the download.

Select a movie or show you want, then click the download arrow to begin your download.

The time it takes to download content onto your device will depend upon the length of the show or movie you selected and the strength and speed of your internet connection. You can download multiple titles at a time, but how many titles you download simultaneously may also affect your download speed.

Once fully downloaded, the selected content will appear on your downloads page and be ready for offline viewing by selecting the title on the downloads page of your account.

Please note that while you may navigate away from the downloads page in the Paramount+ application, any downloads will stop if you exit the app completely.

Who Can Download Content on Paramount+?

While downloading content is one of the reasons why you should subscribe to Paramount+, not every plan offers this feature. Paramount+ offers two subscription plans, Elite and Premium, which cost $4.99/month and $9.99/month, respectively. Savings are available with yearly subscriptions priced at $49.99/year for Elite and $99.99/year for Premium.

Unfortunately, only Paramount+ Premium subscribers can download content to watch offline. While Elite subscribers can't download content, they may still upgrade their membership by visiting the Paramount+ website on a web browser. You cannot upgrade your plan through the Paramount+ app.

Additionally, Premium users need an iPhone with iOS 13 or later or an Android device with OS 5 or later. If your device has an older operating system, you won't be able to download any content, so be sure to check your device's operating system to avoid download issues.

What Paramount+ Content Is Available to Download?

Star Trek Picard Episodes- Season 1, Episodes 1-10 Thumbnails

Paramount+ is one of the best streaming services that offer great classic content to watch and download. And while you can watch most of Paramount's original shows and old favorites offline, not all the content is available to download.

If a show or movie doesn't have the downward pointing arrow, it means the title is not available for download at that time.

At the time of writing, Paramount+ offers some of its top streamed content for download, including Paramount originals such as Star Trek: Picard and The Good Fight. It also offers reality TV show favorites such as Survivor, The Amazing Race, and Big Brother.

Paramount+ Download Limits

Downloads on Paramount+ will remain on your device for 30 days or until you manually delete them from your list. If you begin to watch a downloaded title and do not finish the content within 48 hours, it will be removed from your download library. You may download the title again; however, the app will not save where you left off.

The streaming service allows a maximum of 25 downloads per device and limits how many downloads of the same title you may have across all of your devices. It allows for a maximum of five downloads of the same title per account at one time.

How to Fix Download Issues on Paramount+

The most common issues subscribers run into when attempting to download content from Paramount+ stems from outdated operating systems.

If you encounter an issue downloading content and are a Premium subscriber, check that the device you are using is running at least iOS 13 or Android OS 5. If you continue to encounter issues, try updating your Paramount+ app.

The download will not be successful if you receive a "not enough storage" notification while trying to download content. In this instance, you have exceeded the download storage of your device.

To fix this issue, you must delete any content from your device to make room for new shows or movies. You can do this by deleting other Paramount+ downloaded titles or deleting content from other applications within the device, such as photos or videos.

If you wish to delete a downloaded title from your library in the Paramount+ app, go to More > Downloads, and find the title you wish to delete. Then, swipe left on the title. Next, select the Delete icon.

Watch Content Offline With Paramount+

Ultimately, Paramount+ is an excellent resource for those wishing to download content to watch offline. Its user-friendly app offers classics, fan favorites, and originals for streaming or downloading. While not every show and movie is available, you'll likely find something you want to watch later without consuming your data.
