BeReal, the social media app for being authentic, has millions of downloads worldwide. It is not for everyone though. Maybe you are over the trend, or you find yourself taking the same picture of your desk at work every day, and you just do not want your account anymore.

Whatever the reason, here is how to delete your BeReal account.

What to Know Before Deleting Your BeReal Account

Before you delete your account on BeReal, confirm that this is really what you want to do. You will lose all of your Memories, or your past BeReals, that are saved under your account. If you want to keep some, make sure you save them to your camera roll. If you want all of them, maybe deleting your account isn’t right for you.

Also, confirm that this isn’t something temporary. If you delete your account and ever want to rejoin, you will have to start over adding all of your friends and configuring your settings to your preferences. This includes location sharing, who can see your BeReals, and your profile settings.

If you want to delete your account because the app isn’t working or has glitches, try troubleshooting the BeReal app first.

How to Delete Your BeReal Account

Once you have confirmed that you want to delete your BeReal, follow these steps. This will delete your entire account, not just delete a BeReal post.

  1. Open the app, and tap your profile icon in the top right corner.
  2. Tap the three dots in the top right corner
  3. Tap Help in the About menu
  4. Tap Contact Us
  5. Tap Delete Account
  6. Select your reason for deleting your account, and tap Yes, I’m sure.

BeReal will hold your account for 15 days, so if you change your mind within that time, you will be able to recover your account. If you would like to rejoin BeReal later, you would have to start a new account from scratch.

Being Real Is Tiring

Having to post every day can become a chore, and with Instagram and TikTok launching their own versions of the same concept, you may not need BeReal anymore. Whatever you decide, BeReal has definitely changed the attitude of social media towards a more in-the-moment focus.
